SnoCo FC unites (at least) 17 county high schools on the soccer pitch

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA–It all started innocently enough with a general question to Snohomish County FC Steelheads players and coaches: What high school did you come from?

As the answers started pouring in it was becoming clear that somehow the group of guys who tried out in 2018 and eventually made the SnoCo FC roster had managed to represent pretty-much most of the county, accounting for 17* different high schools (that we know of so far!) Wikipedia has 24 Snohomish County high school pages.

The term and name “united” is used endlessly in soccer circles, and yet it once again applies for the club that calls itself “Steelheads.” You practically couldn’t have planned these kinds of demographics if you had tried. As far north county as Arlington and as far south county as Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace the SnoCo FC 2018 roster was a great sampling of soccer players around the region.

“We picked the name Snohomish County FC for a reason,” says Steelheads General Manager David Falk. “We want to represent our different soccer communities while playing as one county on the pitch. When we looked more closely at the 2018 roster, we were thrilled to see so many high schools represented.”

The Steelheads are entering a new era in 2019 as they will play their first season in the Western Washington Premier League (WWPL). How many Eagles, Tomahawks, Chargers, Tigers, Cougars, Spartans, Penguins, Seagulls, Vikings, Knights, Royals, Hawks, Turks, Marauders or Panthers (*let’s throw in the Shorecrest Scots of north King County for good measure) will there be on that roster?
