BREMERTON, WA— Snohomish County FC finished four half-hour mini-matches with a 2-1-1 record in the Spring Into Season Jamboree hosted by Evergreen Premier League side Olympic Force at Gordon Field on Saturday April 21 in Bremerton. Defender Devin Shull pushed up to score two late winners for the Steelheads. Jamboree Photos Here.
Steelheads-1 Harbor Force-0
The first half-hour match kicked off at 1 PM and featured SnoCo FC against the Harbor Force of the Western Washington Premier League (WWPL.) The Fish controlled much of the match but the Harbor defense held strong. It took a late scramble in front of goal to produce a winner. It was Devin Shull rocketing home a goal with about a minute left that broke the deadlock. See video below.
Steelheads-0 Bellingham United-0
The late win in match one boosted the Steelheads and they continued on in the next match which kicked off just ten minutes later. SnoCo FC had several early chances against Bellingham United of the Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA.) The match was affected by a downpour that lasted about ten minutes. In the end neither team could manage a goal and both sides look forward to Saturday Aprils 28th’s full rematch up in Bellingham.
Steelheads-1 Grays Harbor Gulls-0
The Fish played their 3rd mini-match against April 15 foe Grays Harbor Gulls FC of the WWPL. It was a good match that also saw the Steelheads on the attack for much of the time. The Gulls were stubborn and it looked like perhaps another scoreless draw was coming. Then Devin Shull struck again with a header that floated into the top of the Gulls goal from just a couple of yards away.
Olympic Force-2 Steelheads-1
The coaches and players were disappointed in the play in sections of the final match of the jamboree. The Olympic Force of the Evergreen Premier League, featuring a core of players from Pacific Lutheran University, dominated the match during a stretch where they produced two goals and could have had more. It was late that the Fish fought back and chatter picked up on the pitch for the Orange. Fabian Panduro scored his second goal of the season (see video below) to pull SnoCo FC to within 2-1 and there were a few chances to get even before the final whistle blew.
NEXT: A trip to Bellingham
The Steelheads travel to Bellingham next weekend for a Saturday April 28 match against the Hammers at 6 PM at Phillips 66 Soccer Park.
