SNOHOMISH COUNTY— Snohomish County Football Club is pleased to introduce Merrick Parnell as our Operations and Player Personnel Consultant. It’s a long title for a guy who will be giving advice to the club as it makes the big decisions that come in year one.
Merrick is known in Snohomish County circles as General Manager of the former Arlington Aviators of indoor soccer and Soccer Operations Manager of Trinity Lutheran Everett. Parnell has also been a referee and Director of Officials in Orcas Island Youth Soccer.
“I was very excited to get involved with Steelheads FC when I saw that Andrew (Escalante, GM) and Aaron (Burns, President) were the ones founding the club,” Parnell says. “We have worked together before and I am glad to be used as a resource again.”
Merrick has experience beyond the soccer pitch. He graduated from Trinity Lutheran in 2016 with a BA in Communications. He served as the Sports Information Director before Trinity shut its doors. Parnell has worked with the Billings Outlaws in Arena Football and the Calgary Mustangs as a Junior Hockey League Scout, among other sports-related endeavors.
Steelheads FC are brand new and will need to decide on how to build a club and all of the relationships that go with that – from club to players, club to coaches, and club to fans.
“I expect SnoCo FC will be asking my opinion on many things,” Merrick suggests, “from player scouting, to finding the right coaches, to how to provide a good experience for fans on match day.”
